The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has attacked Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo for criticizing Peter Obi’s call for Nnamdi Kanu’s release. Soludo had said Obi’s demand was “a major slap on the Nigerian judiciary.” In a statement, IPOB spokesman Comrade Emma Powerful expressed “utter disgust and righteous anger” over Soludo’s turnaround, calling it “a tragic betrayal” and “political chameleonic behavior.” The group noted that in January 2023, Soludo visited Kanu at DSS custody, shook his hand, and publicly demanded his release, even offering to stand as surety. As recently as March 2025, Soludo’s commissioner boasted the governor was working toward Kanu’s release. IPOB attributed Soludo’s shift to his “blind and shameless ambition to become Vice President in 2031 under a Fulani-led ticket.”
