Nigerian parents and the mystery of the missing phone charger
5 months ago
My mother called me this morning at 7am. I picked up thinking somebody died. She just ask me quiet quiet, 'Deji, where your phone charger dey?' I tell her I dey use am. She say, 'But I left my own for the parlour last night, now e don disappear.'
I swear, Nigerian parents and phone chargers. They will buy a new phone for ₦200,000 but refuse to buy an extra charger for ₦3,000. The same charger will travel from the living room to the kitchen to the bedroom and back. By the time you wake up, your own charger don become community property. Nobody knows where it went. It's giving 'mystery of the missing remotes'.
So I told her, 'Mummy, abeg buy another one.' She just say, 'Na you go buy am for me.' In this economy? Where one charger costs almost ₦5,000 at the market? Make it make sense.
