Young Nigerians, how are you really sleeping these days?
I have been watching the headlines on this platform for years. Yesterday alone, we saw stories of kidnapped school children, terrorism trials, rape confessions, and political betrayals. Yet I noticed something missing. No one is asking the young people of this country how they are coping internally. We talk about the economy, about corruption, about insecurity, but we rarely pause to ask the person next to us: are you okay?
I am not here to sell you a course or a prayer point. I am an old school Nigerian who remembers when we used to sit under the mango tree and just talk. Today, I see many of you carrying heavy loads. The stress of making ends meet, the anxiety of the next rent payment, the burnout from grinding without rest. Some of you are spending thousands on data to keep up with news that only depresses you more. Some of you have not had a proper conversation with anyone about how you feel in months.
So I am asking directly. How is your sleep? How is your heart? When was the last time you told someone the truth about your stress level? And if you had the money to pay for therapy right now, would you actually go, or would you still find a reason to avoid it?
