Import surge: Nigeria pays N1.9tr on petrol in May amid dip in oil prices

The government is celebrating Dangote Refinery's 44.7 million litres daily production, but Nigerians are still paying N1,362 per litre for petrol while crude oil has dropped to $77. If local production is supposedly covering 90% of our needs, why is the price not reflecting the global oil crash, and our supply buffer has shrunk from 33 days to just 16 days in five months?
