Diezani says UK authorities destroyed her reputation after 13-year case
5 months ago
Diezani Alison-Madueke don finally open up after she was found not guilty for bribery charges, and she is not holding back. She tell BBC that the 13-year investigation by UK National Crime Agency destroyed her reputation and integrity, that she could not work or travel freely. She say, 'I've not been allowed to travel. I've not been allowed to work. They destroyed my reputation and my integrity.'
Now the woman wey be former oil minister and first female Opec president, she dey ask who go answer for this wasted 13 years. She blame Nigerian authorities for losing boxes of receipts wey she say would have cleared her name. She even mention that former President Goodluck Jonathan wrote to court say third parties dey pay for ministers' transport and accommodation for official trips. The NCA say dem carry out impartial investigation, but Diezani say dem treat her like low-hanging fruit because she be woman for a misogynistic society.
So who go pay for the 13 years wey dem steal from this woman? The UK government dey quiet, Nigerian government dey quiet. Meanwhile Diezani don spend over a decade under house arrest for London, and nobody dey talk about compensation or apology. The question wey I get be: if dem never find her guilty, why she still dey suffer for nothing?
