How my younger brother almost sank our container with a side deal

Two years ago, I was in Apapa trying to clear a container of tokunbo phones. Money was tight, the port was a mess, and my younger brother Tunde said he wanted to come help me. I thought he was just trying to learn the trade.

One afternoon, I left him to watch the goods while I went to negotiate with the clearing agent. When I came back, half the phones were gone. Tunde had sold them to some guy he met at the gate. At a loss. He said the man promised to pay him 'later' and that he was just trying to help me move stock fast.

I nearly lost my mind. That was my capital. My sister's school fees. Everything.

I had to run around Lagos for three days to track the buyer down. Found him in Computer Village. Got our phones back but I lost ₦120,000 on the deal , transport, bribes, wasted time.

Today, Tunde and I still do business together but we have rules. Written down. Signed. Family is family but business is business. No be love dey do profit.
