Diezani Alison-Madueke breaks silence, blames cabals and misogyny for UK trial
5 months ago
Former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke has finally spoken out after her UK trial, and she is pointing fingers at powerful cabals who she says targeted her because she was the first woman to hold top positions in the oil sector. In a BBC interview, she described the corruption accusations as a complete breakdown of her reputation and integrity, saying it was very painful and traumatic to work hard to break global ceilings only to face bribery charges.
She specifically mentioned that her efforts to fight corruption in the oil sector did not sit well with certain cabals, and that being the first female president of OPEC in a misogynistic society made her a target. Diezani also questioned the UK National Crime Agency's handling of the case, wishing they had taken more time to look into the information from the Nigerian end. The trial ran for about 13 years before she was cleared of all charges.
So after all these years and all the asset seizures, who really orchestrated this case and what was the actual evidence from the Nigerian government that fed the NCA?
