The way Abuja people calculate transport fare is something else

I was at Area 1 park today waiting for a keke to Wuse. The driver look at me, look at my bag, and say "madam that is ₦800." I tell him I have been paying ₦500 for this same route since January. He said "madam, fuel don change, everything don change."

I did the math in my head. Even with the new MRS reduction we are still paying more than last year. But the thing is, he knows I know, and I know he knows I know. So we just stand there looking at each other like two people playing chess with no board. I ended up paying ₦700 because my legs were tired and I had a meeting by 10am.

Is it just Abuja or every driver now has a PhD in psychological pricing?
