Sunday Igboho has issued a two-hour ultimatum to Fulani leaders in Igboho Town, Oyo State, to release a pregnant woman and her sibling who were kidnapped in the middle of the night. The gunmen initially demanded N300 million ransom but later reduced it to N150 million. Igboho, however, declared that the ransom will never be paid by the victims' family — the Fulani leaders must raise the money among themselves.

Speaking in Yoruba, Igboho said: "You can't be kidnapping in my father's land and expect me to keep quiet. You kidnapped a pregnant woman, and the person who brought the ransom, you killed him and killed the pregnant woman, for what? In Igboho?" He warned that if the woman, her children, and her sibling are not released within two hours, "we will face each other." According to Igboho, tracking the kidnappers' number led them to Alhaji's residence, then the victims were moved to Bani's compound, and finally to Baale's compound where they currently are.

This is the kind of community-led security response we need more of in Nigeria. When the system fails, citizens must step up. My question is simple: how many more pregnant women must be kidnapped before the Oyo State government takes decisive action against these criminals?
