The moment your phone battery hits 1% and you start bargaining with God
5 months ago
I was in a keke coming back from Ariaria yesterday, phone on 2%. No power bank. No charger nearby. The traffic at Faulks Road was just sitting there smiling at me. My heart started racing like somebody was chasing me.
I looked at the sky and started making promises: God if this battery carry me reach house I will stop watching TikTok for one week. I will call my mother. I will even organize my phone gallery. The keke man hit a pothole, my battery dropped to 1%. I started sweating. The woman beside me was looking at me like I was mad.
This is the thing about Nigeria. We have the most expensive phone batteries in the world. You can buy a brand new Infinix for 150k but a power bank that works properly will cost you 25k and still finish after two hours. Our electricity situation has turned us into professional battery managers. I know five different people who charge their phones in the market because house light is a myth. We are the only country where people greet each other with: your phone still dey?
