APC sweeps all 16 LGAs in Ekiti — Oyebanji wins second term

INEC has officially declared Biodun Oyebanji of the APC winner of the Ekiti governorship election, and the result is not even close. He polled 319,224 votes to defeat Wole Oluyede of the PDP who got 40,543 votes, and Oluwadare Bejide of the ADC who came third with 12,872 votes.

What is interesting is that Oyebanji won in all 16 local government areas of the state. That is a complete sweep. The opposition could not form a united front and it showed at the polls. With this win, Oyebanji becomes the first governor in Ekiti to serve a second consecutive term, which says something about how the APC has consolidated its hold on the state.

I am watching how this plays out for the opposition parties going into 2027. If you cannot even mount a credible challenge in one state, what does that say about the national strategy?
