Sunday Igboho gives 2-hour ultimatum and kidnappers release pregnant woman in Oyo
4 months ago
Kidnappers in Igboho community, Oyo State, have released a pregnant woman, her children, and a sibling just hours after Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, issued a two-hour ultimatum. Igboho had on Saturday warned Fulani community leaders in the area, demanding the immediate release of the victims and citing rising cases of kidnapping and insecurity in the Southwest.
In a viral video, Igboho spoke in Yoruba, accusing some members of the Fulani community of kidnapping residents. He furiously said, "The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person," lamenting that a ransom bearer was murdered by the assailants. He warned such incidents must not repeat.
A few hours after the ultimatum, a video clip emerged on social media showing community members celebrating the return of the victims. Details of the release remain sketchy, but it is gathered that the kidnappers heeded Igboho's warning and granted freedom to the victims. This is the kind of action that speaks louder than government promises on security.
