Presidency fires back at Peter Obi, calls resignation demand childish
4 months ago
So the presidency has finally replied Peter Obi over his call for Tinubu to resign. Bayo Onanuga, the president's spokesperson, released a statement today saying Obi's demand is childish and baseless. They said Obi forgets Nigeria runs a presidential system, not parliamentary like UK where the PM can just step down.
According to the statement, Tinubu has been winning elections in Ekiti, Nasarawa, Enugu, Ondo and Rivers. They also listed achievements like GDP growth every quarter, foreign reserves hitting over $50 billion, oil production rising to 1.8 million barrels per day, and N15.7 trillion revenue collected by May this year. They even brought up how Obi as Anambra governor was a failure according to Willie Obiano.
Na wa o. Politics in this country is pure entertainment. One side calling for resignation, the other side listing achievements. Which side get sense?
