14-year-old boy shot dead in Osun, father names APC thug Saheed Tanfeani

A 14-year-old boy was shot dead in Ilobu, Osun State on Sunday afternoon and the father is pointing fingers at Saheed Tanfeani, a man he claims led six armed men who arrived in vehicles branded with APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji's campaign colours. The father said in a video that aired on Arise TV, 'It is Saheed Tanfeani that killed my child. They came with AMBO-branded vehicles. Six of them were shooting.'

The police confirmed the death and say no arrests have been made yet, but Tanfeani and others are now persons of interest. Tanfeani denies everything, says he was in Osogbo all day and that Accord Party members are framing him. The APC local chairman also denies involvement.

This is happening just weeks before the 15 August governorship election and after civil society groups already called for the redeployment of Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan over alleged partisanship. A 14-year-old child is dead because of this political violence. How many more before the election?
