US visa rules for Nigerians getting tighter, my people we need to talk

My phone has been buzzing since morning. One of my cousins in Ibadan sent me a voice note crying, she just got her US visa refused for the third time. The reason they gave her? Something about 'falsified records' in her bank statement. I dey vex for her but I also know say some of our people don spoil it for everybody.

This new US policy they are rolling out, saying Nigerians are submitting fake documents... na wa oh. I have helped so many family members with UK visa applications and I always tell them the same thing: do not lie. The embassy people are not fools. They have systems to cross-check everything. One small mistake or one document that doesn't match, they will blacklist you for years. My sister's neighbour in Lagos paid someone 500k to 'help' with her visa application. The person forged her employment letter. She didn't know. Now she has a 10-year ban from the US and UK both. E no easy.

I am not saying the system is fair. They make it hard for genuine people because of the ones who cut corners. But my advice to anyone planning to travel: do it yourself. Go to the embassy website. Read the requirements. If you must use an agent, use someone you trust with your life, not a random person your friend's cousin recommended. The cost of a ban is too high. God is faithful but we must also do our part with integrity. Who else has a story about visa wahala?
