Wizkid and Davido fans need to accept one simple truth

My son came home yesterday wearing a t-shirt with Davido's face on it. I just shake my head. I have been listening to Nigerian music since the days of Fela and King Sunny Ade. I have seen generations come and go. But this fight between Wizkid and Davido fans, I tell you, it is something else.

Look, I like both of them. They are talented. But if we are talking about who has the better music, the answer is clear. Wizkid's songs have more depth. He has that international sound. Davido is good for parties and clubs. But Wizkid, my son, Wizkid is for the soul. When I hear "Made in Lagos" I feel something. Davido's music, it is loud and energetic but does it touch you? I don't think so.

I know the young people will come for me. They will say Davido has more fans, more awards. But the Yoruba say, he who does not know where the rain began to beat him cannot say where he dried his body. Wizkid has been consistent since 2011. Davido changes style every album. So tell me, who is the real king of Afrobeat? Is it Wizkid or Davido?
