Air Peace boss Allen Onyema says he subsidised the latest evacuation flight from South Africa because government funding fell short, not that he pocketed public money as some reports claim. With aviation fuel costs quadrupled and 16 past evacuations done free, he argues the current economic pressure forced him to cover the gap.
