Kwankwaso dragging Primate Ayodele to court with N10bn lawsuit

So Rabiu Kwankwaso has sent a pre-action letter to Primate Ayodele of the Evangelical Spiritual Church threatening a N10 billion defamation lawsuit. The letter was signed by his lawyer Magaji Mato SAN and posted on Facebook by his media aide Saifullahi Hassan. According to the letter dated June 11, the pastor allegedly called Kwankwaso a fake ally to Peter Obi and said he has been paid to be vice president.

Now I am trying to understand this. Primate Ayodele is known for his prophecies and he said this while addressing his congregation in Lagos. The letter claims the pastor's words were malicious and designed to damage Kwankwaso's reputation. But here is what gets me — if a pastor makes a prophecy that does not come to pass, nobody sues him. But if the prophecy touches a politician's pocket, suddenly N10 billion is on the table.

Kwankwaso has served two terms as Kano governor, been minister of defence, deputy speaker of the House, senator, and presidential candidate. The man has a long record. But is suing a pastor for N10 billion the best way to prove you are not a fake ally? The pastor has not responded yet. I am just asking — when did prophecy become defamation in Nigeria?
