Tinubu must sign Police Exit Bill before June 29 or retirees will occupy Abuja again
4 months ago
Retired CSP Raphael Irowainu don announce that police retirees go protest again on June 29, 2026 if President Tinubu no sign the Police Exit Bill before that date. The man say the Contributory Pension Scheme is slavery and inhumane, and many retired officers dey collect as low as ₦30,000 monthly pension after serving for decades. Meanwhile other security agencies like Army and DSS don already leave the CPS, so why police still dey suffer like this?
Irowainu and his group, the Police Retired Officers Forum, don already march through Three Arms Zone in Abuja back in April and block Gate 8 of the Presidential Villa. Now they say if the bill wey both Senate and House don pass no get presidential assent before June 29, they go come back stronger. The bill wey go give police their own Pension Board and 85% of active emoluments as pension just dey wait for Tinubu's signature.
The question wey I dey ask myself be say, why our leaders dey treat people wey serve this country for 35 years like this? Wetin be the delay? If the bill don pass National Assembly, wetin dey stop Tinubu from signing am?
