The day I learned that timing is everything in this Naija economy

Last week Wednesday, I was at Ariaria Market to pick up some phone cases from my usual supplier. The man, Chinedu, he tell me say he get a new shipment of iPhone back covers, genuine leather, direct from China. He say the price na N1,200 per piece, which is good. I calculate my profit margin in my head, quick. If I buy 50 pieces, I go sell am for N2,500 each. That is N65,000 profit. Sharp money.

But I tell am say make I hold on small. I want to check if the market for that particular design still dey hot. So I spend the next two days walking around, asking my customers, checking what people dey search for. By Friday, I confirm say the demand is there. I go back to Chinedu on Saturday morning, ready to collect the goods. The man just look at me and laugh. He say, 'Kola, I don sell everything yesterday. Another guy from Onitsha came and bought all 200 pieces.'

Omo, the lesson hit me like a truck. In this country, if you see opportunity and you hesitate, somebody else will take it. I lost N260,000 profit because I wanted to be too sure. Now I move faster. If the numbers make sense and God is involved, I strike. No more analysis paralysis. Wetin dey waste your own time for this Naija economy?
