Spyro Exposed What We All Know About Our Religious Leaders

Afrobeats singer Spyro has said what many of us have been thinking but were afraid to say out loud. In an interview with Wozobia FM Lagos, he accused Nigerian religious leaders of benefiting from the country's economic hardship and insecurity. He said the more the country is spoiling, the more money they make. That is a heavy statement but is it not true?

Spyro specifically called out clerics for not speaking up against insecurity, for not teaching their congregants how to secure themselves, and for failing to give proper electoral orientation. He said, "Unfortunately, they are not doing that because the more the country is spoiling, the more money they make." He added that anywhere there is a crisis, the people who benefit the most are religious leaders. When you look at the mansions some of these men of God are building while their members cannot afford two meals a day, you begin to wonder who exactly the sermon is for.

The question now is simple. If your pastor is silent about bandits, kidnappers, and bad government while collecting tithes and offerings every Sunday, whose side is he really on? Spyro said we should hold all our leaders including clerics accountable. So I am asking you directly, when last did your pastor preach about insecurity or tell you how to vote?
