N70k minimum wage in this economy? Na wa o.

I just saw what Femi Gbajabiamila said about the N70,000 minimum wage being overtaken by economic realities. My brother, that one is not news at all. The news is that anybody thought N70k would last more than one market cycle.

I calculate things. Look at it: a bag of rice is pushing N80k now. Transport to go from Aba to Onitsha and back is close to N10k if you factor everything. One liter of petrol is N1,125. So if you earn N70k a month, after transport and one bag of rice, you don finish salary before you buy soap or pay rent. The maths is not mathing.

And people are still shouting. I just shake my head. The government people are living in a different Nigeria from the one where we buy garri by the paint bucket. God is involved but e choke small.
