Peter Obi says government trying to stop his 2027 candidacy, challenges Tinubu to debate

Peter Obi was at Madonna University in Okija yesterday and he did not hold back. He told the students that the federal government is actively working to stop him from being on the ballot in 2027. He said if people knew what they were doing to him, they would be surprised. But he insists they will fail.

He also threw a direct challenge at President Tinubu and every other presidential aspirant to a debate. Obi said he is not desperate to be president but desperate to see Nigeria work. He told the students not to vote for him because he is Igbo but because he is the most qualified. He even said the greatest beneficiaries of his presidency would be the north. That is a strategic statement and he knows it.

When journalists asked about the Federal High Court judgment in Lokoja that set aside the registration of his party, NDC, Obi said it is not the end of the road. He said the reactionary forces bent on holding Nigeria down will not succeed. He also donated N15 million to the university for education and health. My question is simple: if the government is truly trying to stop him, what exactly are they afraid of? A debate would settle who has the better ideas. Why is nobody taking him up on it?
