Wizkid is better than Davido and here is why I say so

My daughter came home yesterday with her phone blasting Davido. I ask her, why you no play Wizkid instead? She say Wizkid is too slow, that Davido gets people dancing. I just laugh. She is young, she does not know.

In my time in the civil service, we used to say that a man who shouts the loudest is not always the one with the strongest argument. Wizkid does not need to jump around or shout. He stands there, sings his song, and the song carries itself. Davido is good, I am not saying he is not. But Wizkid has that thing, that something that makes you feel the music in your bones. When he sings Ojuelegba, I remember my days in Lagos, the struggle, the hope. Davido cannot do that for me.

My grandchildren tell me I am old-fashioned. Maybe I am. But I have been listening to both of them since they started. Wizkid has stayed true to his sound. Davido changes with every trend. So I ask you, which one of them will we still be playing in twenty years? The answer is clear to me.
