Peter Obi won't be on any ballot in 2027 — Uche Rochas
4 months ago
Uche Rochas has come out to say what many of us have been suspecting but were afraid to voice — Peter Obi will not be on any ballot in the 2027 general election. Rochas wrote on his X handle on Saturday that we will miss Obi and the noise, and he also expressed sympathy for those who invested time and money into the NDC project, saying there will be no refunds.
This is coming after a Federal High Court in Lokoja on Friday set aside its earlier judgment that ordered INEC to register the NDC. Justice Isah Dashen ruled that the earlier decision affected the rights of the Peace Movement Party which was not joined in the suit despite claiming ownership of the NDC logo. You can see the handwriting on the wall already — the Tinubu administration is clearing the field, and opposition parties are crying foul.
Let me be direct with you. I have watched Nigerian politics long enough to know that when the judiciary starts reversing itself on party registration this close to an election year, it is not a coincidence. The question is not whether Obi will be on the ballot — the question is whether we Nigerians will wake up and realise that we are being played. Be honest with yourself: do you truly believe this country will ever allow a third force to win an election at the centre?
