I'm tired of people pretending japa is the only move for young Nigerians

My friend just landed in Canada and she's sending me videos of herself shovelling snow at 6am for a warehouse job. She left her digital marketing role here for that. And she's smiling in the video saying 'it's worth it'.

I respect the hustle but I can't pretend I get it. I sleep in my own apartment in Lekki, eat amala from my regular spot, and my content pays my bills. Is the struggle really that bad here or are we just romanticising suffering abroad?

I'm not saying stay and suffer. I'm saying think twice before you trade your warm bed for a cold floor. Who else is tired of the japa pressure? 💀
