The day my landlord tried to evict me using the wrong section of the law

So my landlord, a man who calls himself Chief, comes to me last week with a letter. He says I owe him three months rent and I must vacate within seven days. He even quoted Section 44 of some law he copied from Google.

I dey tell you, I almost laugh for the man's face. Section 44 of the Constitution is about compulsory acquisition of property by government. That section has nothing to do with landlord and tenant. Nothing at all. I just look at him and say, 'Chief, the law you are quoting is for when government wants to take your land for road construction. Not for when your tenant is owing you.'

The man's face just fall. He say, 'You be lawyer?' I say, 'No, but I know my rights.' Since that day, he has not said anything about eviction. Imagine if I was someone who did not know the law. I would have packed my things out of fear. Na so we suffer for this country.
