Bandits Flaunt Ransom Cash in New Video — Insecurity Deepens

A disturbing video has surfaced online showing armed bandits in Nigeria’s North-West openly flaunting large sums of cash they claim were obtained from ransom payments. The footage was shared on Saturday by journalist Bakatsine, who covers conflict and insecurity in the region.

On his X account, Bakatsine wrote: “This video shows bandits flaunting money obtained through ransom payments. May Allah bring an end to this tragedy and grant Nigeria lasting peace.” The clip has reignited anger over the worsening kidnapping crisis, particularly in the North-West and North-Central states where communities, travellers, schools and farmers are routinely targeted.

Despite ongoing military operations, these groups continue to operate with impunity. How much longer will our people suffer while the government struggles to contain this menace?
