BREAKING: Suspected terrorists have abducted six Almajiri pupils in Unguwar Gere, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The children were returning from a nearby farm around 6:30pm on Wednesday when the attackers intercepted them close to the village entrance. Residents and soldiers from the Supa Camp in Kuyallo mobilised and engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat, but the terrorists still escaped with the six children.

The abducted pupils have been identified as Abdul Mali Malam, Al Amin Biyar, Abdurrahman Sama Ila, Jamilu Malam, Usumanu Bilya, and Abdul Ganiyu Samaila. As of now, security authorities have not issued any official statement on the incident. This comes just days after bandits, believed to be 'repentant,' killed farmers and abducted nearly 20 others in the same Birnin Gwari area — a pattern that suggests these attacks are coordinated and the security response is failing.

We are talking about children who are already vulnerable as Almajiri pupils, and the government cannot even protect them. Where is the urgency from the Kaduna State Government? When will we have a proper security framework that does not rely on villagers and soldiers fighting bandits with outdated equipment? The names of these six children are now public, and their families deserve immediate action.
