Police handed my wife to mob that burnt her alive — Kaduna man alleges

A man in Kaduna State, Mohammed Aliyu, has accused the police of handing his wife over to a mob that lynched and burnt her to death after she was falsely accused of child theft.

Aliyu alleged that his wife, Malama Ummul-khai-ri-Usman, an Islamic school teacher and mother of four, was travelling to an Islamic lecture in Maraban Jos when she stopped to ask children for directions. Residents accused her of child theft, and a mob gathered. He claimed police took her into protective custody but later handed her back to the waiting crowd. He further alleged that the Divisional Police Officer led her outside and into the hands of the mob, which lynched and burnt her alive.

A video showing the incident has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage. If this is true, it is a complete failure of the system meant to protect citizens. Has anyone seen this video?
