The day I stopped trusting my calculator and started trusting my gut

I was in Onitsha last week, doing the usual round. A supplier brings a deal , 50 refurbished iPhone 11s, price too sweet, like almost too good. I calculate the numbers in my head, profit margin looking like 35% after logistics. I dey ready to pay.

Something just hold my hand. I no fit explain am. I tell the guy make I come back with my mechanic friend who knows phones inside out. The guy start sweating small. When we open the first phone, the motherboard was swapped. Fake parts everywhere. If I had paid, I would have lost over ₦4 million.

That experience taught me something important. In this Nigeria, your brain and your spirit must work together. The numbers can lie. But that quiet voice inside? That one rarely lies. My father used to say, 'If the price is too sweet, something must be bitter.' I never understood until now.
