Buba Galadima just told us what we all know — Tinubu wants a one-party state
4 months ago
Buba Galadima of the NDC has finally said what many of us have been thinking but were afraid to say out loud. He went on Arise News yesterday and said the Federal High Court judgment against his party's logo was a calculated attempt to frustrate them from participating in the election. He said the judge deliberately waited until Friday June 27 to deliver that ruling so that by Monday the party would be locked out of the INEC portal. That is not coincidence. That is strategy.
Galadima also called out the NJC directly. He said some judges are bad eggs and should not just be disciplined but sent to jail. He said when there is no justice in a country we are all in trouble. And he pointed out something that should worry every Nigerian — what INEC did to the NNPP. The man has been keeping away from the media because he said he saw the signs coming from INEC and the judiciary. Signs we have seen before in this country that always end in disaster.
On state police, Galadima shocked me. He said he fought for it all his life but what is being proposed now is different. He said governors and the President want state police before elections so they can use them to attack opposition and disrupt elections. He recalled how the Native Authority Police used to lock up opposition members three months before elections on trumped up charges. He said some National Assembly members may not even return safely to their states when this law comes into effect. So the question is simple: are we sleepwalking into a one-party state or is this just paranoia from a man who has seen too much?
