Fuel price almost at N1,000 but my generator still dey drink like mad
4 months ago
So I just saw news that filling stations are about to drop fuel price near N1,000 per litre. My first thought was, abeg who still dey buy fuel for station like that? The numbers don't add up.
I ran a quick calculation. If you run a 3.5KVA generator for 8 hours daily, that's about 15 litres per day. At N1,000 per litre, that's N450,000 per month just for fuel. Na wa. Meanwhile my inverter setup cost me about N1.5 million two years ago. The payback period was 4 months based on old fuel prices. Now it's even shorter.
Lagos is a special kind of chaos. We celebrate a price drop that still leaves fuel at almost N1,000. Meanwhile the people who can't afford inverter are the ones who will suffer most. Interesting how the math always works against the poor. My guys, when last you checked your generator's fuel consumption vs your wallet?
