Married men who still call their mummy every morning... are we okay with this?

I am sitting in my office in Wuse and I just had to step out of a meeting because a colleague's husband called her to say his mother said she is not cooking his rice properly. At 11am on a Tuesday. The man is 38 years old with two children.

From where I sit in Abuja, I see this pattern too much. Grown men who cannot make a decision about their own home without running it past their mother first. It is not about respect. Respect is different from letting your mother dictate how your wife runs your household. The policy says one thing, the reality says another. Many marriages are struggling because the husband never cut the cord.

My honest counsel is that a man who cannot put his wife first will never truly build a home. He will just be extending his father's compound. So I ask the women here, how do you handle a husband who puts his mother before you without causing a war in the family?
