N27.4 billion for an agency that doesn't exist — Atiku calls out Gbajabiamila
4 months ago
Atiku Abubakar has asked President Tinubu to suspend his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over a N400 million bribery scandal and a budget fraud involving N27.4 billion. The allegation was made by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. But here is the twist — Gbajabiamila claimed that this same council does not exist.
Atiku pointed out that the Federal Government allocated N27.4 billion to this exact agency in the 2026 budget. So how can you say an agency does not exist when you have budgeted billions for it? That is not just a contradiction, it is a deliberate attempt to hide something. Atiku said, and I quote: "How can you allocate N27.4 billion in the budget to a government agency that doesn't exist without leaving more questions than answers."
This is classic Nigerian politics. A top official denies an agency exists, but the money is already in the budget. Who benefits from this? Not the Nigerian people, that is for sure. Tinubu must decide if he wants to protect his friend or protect the rule of law. N27 billion is not a joke. What will it take for this government to take accountability seriously?
