The day my landlord tried to evict me using the wrong section of the law

My landlord come to my house last week, holding a paper wey im say na quit notice. I look am well well, the man write 'Section 14(2) of the Tenancy Law' for top. I just laugh small because I know that section cover commercial property, not residential. The man don copy from Google and think I go fear.

I tell am, 'Oga, you get right to issue notice but you must follow the proper section. Section 14(2) na for shop and office, not for my flat. You need Section 8(3) for residential tenancy and you must give me one month notice minimum.' The man face change like he just drink bitter leaf. He start to dey stutter and say na im lawyer give am the paper. I say, 'Tell your lawyer make he read the Lagos State Tenancy Law 2011 again, especially Part 3.'

Na so e be. Many landlords just dey copy and paste law wey dem no understand. If you know your rights, you fit save yourself from wahala. The man never come back since that day.
