N501 billion bond wey dem claim don pay? GenCos say na lie

Yesterday, the Association of Power Generation Companies dropped a bomb. Their executive secretary, Dr Joy Ogaji, came out to say that the famous N501 billion bond wey Tinubu government been dey announce has not even been fully disbursed. Atiku Abubakar don already call it the final collapse of the administration.

Dr Ogaji even challenge the government to publish the list of who received the money and how much. She say the token payment wey dem make na like rubbing oil on a crying child's mouth to imply that he had eaten. Atiku say this is no longer policy failure but a crisis of credibility. If the debts were cleared, why are the creditors saying otherwise? If the interventions worked, why is another intervention necessary?

Nigerians are tired of official declarations that dissolve upon contact with reality. How many times will we celebrate fresh debt while yesterday's borrowing remains unaccounted for? The National Assembly must demand a comprehensive public audit of all power sector intervention funds. Darkness has become one of the most expensive commodities in Nigeria. The least we deserve is the truth.
