Kidnappers Turn Abuja Border Communities Into Terror Zones Despite $460M CCTV Project
4 months ago
Yemisi went to her farm along Fulani Road in Madalla like any other day. She never imagined she would end up in the hands of kidnappers. Her family told SaharaReporters that they received a call demanding N10 million ransom — money they could not raise.
Yemisi spent five days in captivity before a ransom was paid. The kidnappers held her in the Imi area of Zuba, FCT. After her release, she could not stay in Madalla due to psychological trauma and had to return to her village for recovery.
This is happening while the government claims to have spent $460 million on a CCTV project for Abuja's security. Residents of Fulani Road say once it is 7 p.m., they are afraid to move. How does a CCTV project costing billions of naira fail to protect a woman walking to her farm?
