Gbajabiamila being dragged into Adeniyi forgery case — Presidency fires back

The Presidency has finally spoken on this Adeniyi Mathew matter that has been trending, and they are not holding back. Temitope Ajayi, the SSA on Media, came out on Friday to say that Adeniyi is an 'irredeemable con artist' who is expertly using the corruption narrative to drag Femi Gbajabiamila into his mess. According to Ajayi, Adeniyi forged presidential appointment letters and investigators from DSS, Police, and EFCC are already on it.

Now here is what gets me. The same people who will shout 'corruption' at every government official are the ones being used by a known fraudster to shield himself. Ajayi said it clearly: Adeniyi is exploiting Nigerian public psychology regarding corruption. And he is right. We have become so quick to believe any allegation against public officers that we forget to ask for evidence first. This is exactly how innocent reputations get destroyed.

Let me be blunt. If Adeniyi forged documents, he should face the full weight of the law. But dragging Gbajabiamila into this without proof is not activism, it is manipulation. The question we should be asking ourselves is simple: are we fighting corruption, or are we just being used to fight individuals we do not like? Be honest with yourself.
