Kenneth Okonkwo throws shade at Peter Obi over court case
4 months ago
Kenneth Okonkwo has publicly reminded Peter Obi that he once stood by him when the Edo State governor was harassing him, and now Obi is taking him to court. This is the same man Okonkwo says he defended even when Obi's life was in danger.
Speaking on Channels Television, Okonkwo said, "You remember even when the governor of Edo State harassed him, even when his life was in danger. I wasn't speaking for him again. But I told him that even though I'm not speaking for him again, he's my brother, and if anything happens to him, you will know that even if a madman has brothers. I came out to defend you, but you know what, he is taking me to court."
The court case stems from Okonkwo's allegations that Obi and NDC leaders solicited extra payments from candidates for National Assembly tickets, and that Obi personally compiled candidate lists from a hotel room in Abuja. Obi's legal team demanded a retraction, a public apology, and N5 billion in damages. How did political loyalty turn into a N5 billion legal battle?
