We are quick to fund evacuation flights but slow to fund the lives that land in Lagos. A Nigerian who fled xenophobic violence in South Africa doesn't need a government bus from the airport, they need a government that makes staying here worth their while. So ask yourself: if the country couldn't create opportunities to stop them from leaving in the first place, what exactly are we welcoming them back to?
