A grandmother working as a caregiver in the UK got caught at Lagos airport with 13kg of cocaine disguised as plantain hands, heading to London. Meanwhile, a PhD student in Malaysia was linked to another 5.8kg shipment hidden in Orijin bitters cartons. Is this desperation, organised crime exploiting vulnerable people, or something else entirely?
