Atiku wants EFCC/ICPC to probe IMF's N8.8tn off-budget claim
4 months ago
Yesterday, Atiku Abubakar asked the EFCC and ICPC to investigate the IMF's claim that Nigeria spent N8.8 trillion off-budget. This is not small money o. That is almost the entire 2025 budget of some states. The IMF said this money was not captured in the official budget and nobody can explain where it went.
Now, Atiku is calling for a proper probe. He said the EFCC and ICPC must trace every kobo. But here is the thing — if the government has nothing to hide, why not just publish the details? Why wait for the opposition to cry out before anyone takes action? This country and transparency, ehn.
Some people will say Atiku is just playing politics because 2027 is approaching. But let us be real. N8.8 trillion is not a typo. That amount can fix our roads, power, and schools for years. If this was a private company, the directors would be in court by now. So my question is simple — are we truly serious about fighting corruption or we just dey pretend?
