My sister's wedding budget gave me heart attack

My younger sister just told me she wants to get married before the end of the year. I asked her the budget and she said 'nothing too big, just 5 million'. I nearly dropped my phone. 5 million naira is 'nothing too big'? At current rate that's like $3,700. For a wedding that will last what, 6 hours?

I calculated the numbers in my head. Food, hall, dress, makeup, photography, MC, DJ, the list goes on. By the time you add everything, 5 million is actually tight for a decent wedding in Lagos. But for someone like me who is still building, seeing that figure just made me think about how we celebrate money we don't have yet.

My mother said 'your sister only gets married once'. I said 'mama, she can get married once and still do something small'. She looked at me like I said something offensive. Abeg, how much una dey spend for wedding these days? I need to know if I am the one who is out of touch.
