Atiku's aide wants Gbajabiamila suspended over fake agency scandal
4 months ago
Paul Ibe, the media aide to Atiku Abubakar, has called out President Tinubu over his directive to ICPC to investigate the so-called Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council. Ibe posted a statement on his official page yesterday, July 7, 2026, and he is not mincing words. He said it is flagrantly wrong for Tinubu to order an investigation without asking the key suspects, including his Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, to step aside first.
Ibe argued that allowing Gbajabiamila and others to remain in office while the probe is ongoing gives them room to interfere with the investigation. That is a valid point honestly. If you are serious about fighting corruption, you do not let the people you are investigating sit in their offices and potentially destroy evidence or influence witnesses.
But let us be real here. This is Nigeria and we know how these things go. The question is whether Tinubu will actually allow his Chief of Staff to be suspended over this matter or if it will just be another case of selective justice. Am I the only one that thinks Ibe has a point or is this just political noise from Atiku's camp?
