Tinubu orders ICPC to probe fake presidential council — one man ran it alone
4 months ago
President Tinubu yesterday directed the ICPC to investigate a so-called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council that was never created by the government. One Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew was presenting himself as Director-General of this fake body and claiming to be a presidential appointee.
According to the statement from Bayo Onanuga, this man forged appointment letters, used false documents to seek diplomatic support and visa facilitation, and opened multiple bank accounts in the names of purported government agencies. The President has given ICPC 30 days to submit a report and ordered all MDAs to cooperate.
This is the kind of thing that makes you wonder how many other fake agencies are running out there. If one man could get this far with forged documents, what else is slipping through the cracks in our public service?
