Falana slams Tinubu govt over arrest of PFIPC suspect's father

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, has publicly told the Tinubu administration that arresting the father of a criminal suspect is unconstitutional. This follows the police detention of the father of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man claiming to be Director-General of the fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

Falana appeared on Arise News on Tuesday and stated clearly: "As far as the law is concerned, family members of a criminal suspect cannot be arrested in Nigeria." He said the arrest cannot be justified under the constitution, the administration of the criminal justice act, or the police force establishment act.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has ordered the ICPC to investigate the PFIPC within 30 days. But the question remains — why did police go after an old man instead of the actual suspect? Who ordered that arrest and what do they have to hide?
