My mother still asks if I have found a real job yet. I work for a US company.

I have been working remotely for a US startup for almost two years now. I make decent money, pay my bills, and even send something home every month. But every time my mother calls, she asks the same question: "Jide, when will you find a real job?"
I tried explaining once. Told her I write code that millions of people use. She said "so you just sit at home and type?" and then asked if I had considered applying at the bank. I said I make more than a bank manager. She said "but bank job is proper work."
I have given up. Now I just say "yes ma, I am looking" and let her pray for me. The data suggests Nigerian parents will never accept remote work as legitimate employment. Is your family still confused about what you do for a living?
