Onanuga calls Peter Obi a pathological liar over threat to life claims

Bayo Onanuga has called Peter Obi a pathological and serial liar. The presidency spokesman said this on his X account today after Obi claimed in a viral interview that his life is under threat from the Tinubu administration. Obi said his car was stopped at an airport and that he may not be alive for the 2027 election.

Onanuga said the allegations are unfounded and that Obi is dragging the government into personal inconveniences from flouting parking regulations. He said Obi has a credibility deficit and is using propaganda to attract sympathy. He also pointed out that Obi has substantial interest in Fidelity Bank which is thriving under this administration's reforms.

So a sitting government's spokesman calls a former presidential candidate a pathological liar on a public platform. When did it become official policy to insult citizens who raise security concerns? If Obi's claims are false, investigate and prove it. But calling him a liar without evidence is not governance. It is intimidation. How do we expect people to trust the system when those in power respond to accusations with insults instead of facts?
