US Congressman calls out Fulani militants for attacks on Christians in Nigeria

So a US Congressman has waded into our security situation and he is pointing fingers directly at Fulani militants for the attacks on Christians across Nigeria. This is not some random online commentator o, this is an elected American lawmaker making a statement that will now be part of congressional records. The question we should be asking ourselves is why does it take a foreign politician to name what our own government refuses to call by its name.

For years we have watched communities in Plateau, Benue, and Southern Kaduna being razed while our security chiefs and state governors use diplomatic language like 'herder-farmer clashes' or 'banditry'. Meanwhile churches are being burned, worshippers are being killed, and the perpetrators are known. The Congressman did not mince words and he referenced specific attacks that have been documented by human rights groups. This is not hearsay.

I am tired of the semantic games. If a foreign government is now officially labeling these attacks as what they are, then our National Assembly needs to stop playing politics with lives. Every time we refuse to call a problem by its real name we are enabling the next attack. How many more communities must be displaced before we admit that religious violence with ethnic undertones is a clear and present danger in this country.
